8-Page Zine

8-Page Zine

A single sheet of paper that folds down into an 8-page mini-booklet. No staples needed — you just fold and cut.

See Zines for some background on the history of zine-making.

Source pages

You need exactly 8 pages in reading order. Octavo handles the rotation and placement so everything ends up the right way round when you fold the sheet.

Options

Zine opens

Whether the zine opens left-to-right (like a typical English book) or right-to-left (for Hebrew, Arabic, or manga-style layouts).

Back of sheet

Choose what to print on the back of the sheet:

  • Blank — nothing on the back. You only need to print single-sided.
  • Secret poster — your 9th source page is printed on the back, spanning the full sheet. When the zine is unfolded, the reverse side is a poster. This requires duplex printing.

Include assembly guide

Adds a folding and cutting guide as a separate print job, showing you how to turn the printed sheet into two zines.

Printer margins

It’s worth noting that on an 8 page zine, different pages will have a different ‘edge’ (or edges!) where the page touches the edge of the paper. This can affect where the printer margins are on each of your zine’s pages. Don’t worry, Octavo will show you a preview of the printer margins, so you know where to avoid putting content!
